Afghanistan is a country consisting mainly of mountains. Since the tragic series of avalanches throughout the Salang Pass area in 2010, which claimed 175 lives, avalanche mitigation expert Marty Schmoker and his Afghan colleagues have been doing everything they can to prevent future disasters.
